“Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! May the round moon bring you a happy family and a successful future!” 🎑
-A message from our Chinese Department
“Mid-Autumn Festival is an important holiday in China. One of the main themes is for families and loved ones to come together during the break. Here in our PY Chinese department we had an excellent time bringing our students together making Mid-Autumn cards, reciting and learning poetry about moon, and making paper mooncakes. We hope all of our SLAS families will enjoy the fruits of their labors together at home during the festival!”
–Ms Monica Primary Chinese Teacher
A common and celebrated theme during Mid-Autumn Festival is for family and friends to gather, enjoy the moon and time being together. This past Friday, our Wildcats celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival by immersing themselves in the traditional art of crafting mooncakes. Students started by blending and kneading the dough to the desired consisitency. As the dough and fillings were ready, each student had the opportunity to create their own mooncakes, choosing from a variety of traditional fillings such as red bean paste, lotus seed paste, and salted egg yolks. The atmosphere was festive and collaborative, with everyone sharing their creations and exchanging tips. At the end of the activity, participants enjoyed tasting their homemade mooncakes and we hope they took some home to share their creations with their families.
