Our annual Author’s Tea activity is a great way for our Wildcats to both practice and embrace our core values to become: Creative Thinkers, Proficient Communicators, Confident Individuals, and Compassionate Citizens of the World! Students work hard putting their projects together as well as practicing and presenting their works. We know they’re nervous but so proud and happy to have their parents in attendance! Stay tuned for more updates for all of our Primary Division!
G5 Author’s Tea
At this year’s Author’s Tea, 5th grade students exhibited confidence and public speaking skills. We enjoyed a wide range of presentations where learners expressed their creativity and descriptive details. In 5A, Jifan Kuang impressed listeners with his immersive story about a group of sailors traveling the ocean to face and overcome unexpected challenges. In 5B, Essey Yao entertained his audience with his story, The Oreo War, where he described how he was trying to find a way to convince his friend to share some delicious snacks. In 5C, Siyul Joo, shares the story of his proudest day and the valuable lesson he learned: that true success lies in overcoming challenges and growing through self-reflection.
G4 Author’s Tea
On November 5th, grade 4 students and parents gathered to celebrate the hard work that students have been putting in during English writing class at our annual Author’s Tea event. Students have carefully written, revised, edited, and practiced reading their narrative writing pieces on a variety of topics: from recollection of their summer vacation to description of special occasions as part of their personal narratives, as well as fantastical stories about black holes, space portals, time travel, dragons, aliens, and other exciting phenomena described in their fictional narratives. To achieve their writing goals and reach out to their audience, students tried hard to demonstrate the ability to utilize carefully chosen descriptive words and precise and sensory details to enhance their pieces alongside intricate syntactical structures and emotive punctuation. We commend our students’ ambition to become more Proficient Communicators and Confident Individuals, who challenged themselves to effectively present their essays to the audience and captivate their attention through a variety of verbal and non-verbal skills despite the natural tendency to feel nervous in front of a big crowd. In these short three months, students have demonstrated an impressive amount of growth. Seeing students apply new skills and knowledge to their writing with such talent has been a joy to witness for both parents and teachers.
