Literacy Week at SLAS

News

While elementary and early years students will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday, our entire school will be focusing on literacy. The theme for this year’s Literacy Week is Reading Accelerates Success.

Literacy Week is held each year at LAS. It was created to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a school. Taking time every day to read or do a reading activity with students is crucial to a student’s development. Even just 15 -20 minutes a day can improve a student’s literacy skills dramatically. Therefore, the English and ESL Department will have all students reading at least twenty minutes a day to help raise school awareness of literacy.
