This year for International Festival, Early Years have been learning all about Argentina. Each Friday, we focus on exploring more about the country of Argentina. We have been looking at distinct landscapes such as Iguazu Falls, animals like jaguars and penguins, and famous people like soccer star Lionel Messi. One of the most important ways for us all to learn about different cultures is through food.
Last week EY got to experience a slice of Argentinian culture thanks to some yummy treats from Pampa Mia. We first got to try empanadas with two different flavors, beef and cheese. The students really enjoyed it and commented about how it looked similar to a giant dumpling you could find here in China. To prepare for this taste test, some of the classes made craft versions of empanadas using materials like foam sheets or play dough. The big favorite for all of the students was the dulche de leche alfajores. These sweet treats were a big hit and did not last long on any of the plates. We ended the day with big smiles after having a great cultural experience.
