Jamal Hill
Jamal Hill is a United States Citizen from Dallas, Texas. He has 7 years experience as an Elementary physical education teacher and 6 years as an assistant principal in the Dallas Independent School District. Mr. Jamal has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Kinesiology and minor in Business. He also has a Master of Science in Health and Kinesiology. He has attended the 21st Century Principal’s Program and obtained his Texas Principals Certification in early childhood through grade 12. He also has a physical education certification to teach physical education in grades Pre K – 12. Mr. Jamal has played division 1 basketball his freshman year of college at the University of Texas at El Paso under Hall of Fame Coach Don Haskins. He was Teacher of the year 2007 at Whitney Young Elementary School in the Dallas Independent School District.
Mr. Jamal describes his leadership style as a collaborative and instructional leader. His philosophy is “Believe in the children and they will believe in you.” He is experienced in fostering a “we” culture and not a “you” approach to leadership. All stakeholders are exposed to buy into high expectation for student achievement. This in turn builds confidence, initiative, and overall improvement in areas that affect the entire campus. To improve the quality of instruction, he will spend a considerable amount of time in classrooms observing, providing constructive feedback, coaching and developing his staff. He believes all children can learn given the appropriate instruction and time.
