Girls Basketball

The girls entered the tournament on Saturday with a fantastic 10-0 regular season record, led by the stellar play and leadership of Pilar, as well as Ryoka and Luna’s tough defense, and little Laura’s good movement and dribbling.

Unfortunately, the girls lost the first game to a very well-organized Dulwich side. But with little time to lament their first loss of the season, the girls had to get ready to face Concordia. With less than minute left in the game the score was tied up at 10-10. Due to a controversial foul call blown by the Concordia coach refereeing the game, LAS ended up losing the game 11-10.

But the girls pulled together and won their last three games of the tournament with increasingly dominant performances, beating SMIC, YCIS and NIS along the way. Pilar was chosen as LAS rep to play in the all-star game and led Puxi to win over Pudong. Student Coach Jenna Serstad was there throughout supporting the team, calling plays, making substitutions and generally helping out with keeping the girls organized and giving them important advice.

Overall, the tournament was a great learning experience for the girls and we hope to see more girls join the team next year since the whole team will be returning. This year was a building year. Next year is: our Championship year!

Boys Basketball

The boys basketball team has been playing well and have only lost two games the entire season. They played a seven game tournament at SAS Puxi. Of the seven games, they won six games and tied the other. They did a fantastic job. We are all proud of their hard work and dedication.
