Elementary Guidance Update

Hello! It’s nice to meet you!

My name is Fleurdeliz Marquinez and I am very excited to meet the students of SLAS for the school year of 2016-2017. As your school counselor, I work with students, teachers, and parents/guardians. I am an important part of the team that works to create a positive learning environment for all students reflective of our school’s core values – Confident Individual, Proficient Communicator, Creative Thinker, and Compassionate Citizen.

We look forward to getting to know your child or continuing to help your child become a successful SLAS student and citizen. 

Guidance is for everybody!

Part of our job is to get to know each and every student in our school so we may help them feel connected and safe while they are with us.

Much of our work with students is confidential, which means we respect your child’s right to privacy. If there’s something we think you need to know, we will definitely contact you.

Classroom Session update!

The month of August has been all about introducing myself in each classroom! I showed a PowerPoint about what a school counselor does and then we discussed the part of my job that they need to know about. We also talked about an introduction about bullying and have each of them do a pledge for the school. I also introduced them the “Bullying Box”, where they can safely and anonymously report acts of bullying. It was a great first classroom visit!
